Born April 14, 1942 in Frankford, WV, he was a son of the late John Thomas and Estella (Napier) Hayes.
Prior to retirement, Thomas was employed at G.E. and later Genicom for 22 years. Following his career at Genicom, he was employed as a Walmart associate for 10 years and worked as a volunteer at Augusta Health. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Hayes and Denver Hayes; and a sister, Shelby Starke.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (Greene) Hayes of Waynesboro; son, T.J. Hayes of Waynesboro; daughter, Melody Wolverton and husband, Dennis, of Fishersville; three grandchildren, Elise, Connor, and Tristan Wolverton; sister, Joanne Hill (Steve) of Rifle, CO; two brothers, Robert Hayes (Janet) of WV and Tony Hayes of WV; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Brodd officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Clifton Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Maxwelton, WV.
