Waltine (Hanger) Rankin

She was born August 9, 1922 to the late Walter Glenn and Bessie (Jordan) Hanger.

Waltine was an avid gardener and loved tending to her plants. Most of her employment history was at Roy’s Florist where she enjoyed working with her sister. She enjoyed camping trips and traveling with her husband, they loved spending time with family and friends, especially during the holidays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Rankin; sister, Francis Hevener and husband, Roy; brother, Raymond Hanger and wife, Louise; Nephews, Raymond Hanger, Jr. and Glenn Hanger; nieces, Leona H. Thompson and Elizabeth H. Shifflet.

Left to cherish her memory are nephews, Erskin Hevener and wife, Carolyn, Ralph Hevener, Kenneth Hanger and wife, Judith, Douglas Hanger, Howard Hanger and wife, Shirley; and numerous cousins, great nieces and great nephews. She is also survived by nieces-in-law, Velma Hanger and Jean Hanger; nephew-in-law, Frank Thompson; and special friends, Wanda and Richard Linskey, David and Betty Jo Toyler, Bob and Millie Simmons.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church with Rev. Rachel Hamburger officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Marshall, David Meek, Ronald Meek, Chris Hanger, David Toyler, and Jack Caraway.

There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
