

Born April 30, 1938 in Mint Spring, VA, he was a son of the late Clifford and Helen (Benson) Graves.
Prior to his retirement, Wayne was a self-employed professional painter whose talent and dedication left a lasting mark across Virginia. In addition to painting homes and businesses for clients, he was a gifted artist with a deep passion for mural work. His creativity and skill were showcased in the many vibrant murals he painted on buildings throughout the state, each one a testament to his artistic vision and love for his community. Wayne had a deep appreciation for Native American history and artifacts. He adored spending time with his family and will be remembered as a loving father, devoted grandfather, proud brother, and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Denise” Graves; sister, Karen Bell; and brother-in-law, William Miller.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie Graves of Verona; granddaughter, Rebecca White and husband, Brandon of Middlebrook; great-grandchildren, Wyatt White and wife, Rachel of WY, and Hunter White and wife, Kirsten of Middlebrook; great-great-grandchildren, Fletcher White and Ida White of WY, and Sawyer White of Middlebrook; brother, Gene Graves and wife, Nancy of Staunton; sister, Becky Bloise and husband, Bud of PA; brother-in-law, Robby Bell of SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2179 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft with Pastor Meredith Webb officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
