

Born December 28, 1930 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Robert A. and Nettie M. (Patterson) Carter.
Prior to retirement, Wilber was employed be the Enron Co. where he worked for over 30 years and retired in 1992. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Army during the Korean War. Wilber greatly enjoyed going to watch the Waynesboro Generals play and listening to country music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Cash Carter; 11 siblings, Halcie Haynes, Clyde Carter, Lawrence Carter, Racie Campbell, Garfield Carter, Bobby Carter, Ann Mooneyham, Manola Sumner, Edith Carter, and Onie Littek; and 13 nieces and nephews, Billy Haynes, Patsy Lobban, Clyde Carter, Jr., Fonda Beverley, James Toler, Ronald Toler, Gary Dean Carter, R.W. Sumner, Jay Crouch, Steven Carter, Dewayne Carter, Paul Carter, and Linda Miller.
Survivors include a sister, Jean Crouch and husband, Floyd, of Newark, OH; special niece, Nancy Milburn of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at Sherando United Methodist Cemetery, 2022 Howardsville Turnpike, Stuarts Draft with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
