
Bill was born in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late William P. and Rita (Berchtold) Heinlein on August 11, 1951. He attended Cathedral Preparatory High School. After undergraduate studies at Temple University in Philadelphia and Gannon University in Erie, he earned his Ed.D in psychology from Virginia Tech. During his doctoral studies, Bill completed an internship at the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville, where he went on to work as a clinical psychologist for his entire career.
Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on a date and at a location soon to be announced.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Janet (Heinlein) Morris. Survivors include his best friends Rick Krupinski of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and Becky Corbett of Staunton, Virginia; as well as several cousins and many other friends who all will miss him deeply.
