William L. "Buck" Hughes

Born on March 1, 1930 in Nelson County to the late Wirt A. and Ivy McGann Hughes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma “Lou” Hughes in 2004; a brother, Wirt Hughes and a sister, Peggy Hughes Thomas.

He was a devoted father and best friend to his daughter, Jennifer and son-in-law David Watts.

He is also leaves a sister, Dolly Hughes.

Buck proudly served in the United States Navy and retired from DuPont after 38 years of service.

He will be greatly missed.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2015 at Augusta Memorial Park with the Rev. Merle Fisher officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday prior to the service at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Buck’s name to the following organizations: Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah, P.O. Box 215, Fishersville, Virginia 22939, the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256, or to the American Cancer Society, 420 Neff Ave., Suite 210, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801.
