

Born July 27, 1939 in Augusta County, he was a son of the late Woodie Clarkeson and Ruby Louise (Witt) Lawhorne.
Woodie was a U.S. Army veteran having served his country honorably while stationed in Germany before the Vietnam War. Following his service to his country, he worked as a stock clerk at IGA and later Kroger where he retired. He was a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, Waynesboro. Woodie was a home body and greatly enjoyed taking care of his home and working in his yard. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren whom he so lovingly adored. His yard was always immaculately kept. He will be remembered as a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, devoted brother and uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Marion Lawhorne and George Earl Lawhorne; and sister, Brenda Jean Lawhorne.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Wanda Lawhorne of Waynesboro; two daughters, Gail Simpson of Nelson County and Katrina Hendricks of SD; four grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson, Keith Simpson, Megan Simpson, and Shyloh Simpson; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; brother, Charlie Lawhorne and wife, Brenda, of Grottoes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, all services will be held privately.
