She was born September 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Conaway.
On November 26, 1949 she married Glenn R. Tanner, who died December 16, 2004.
Mrs. Tanner once owned and operated Freda’s Flea Market in West Waynesburg. She had also worked in the cafeteria at Central Greene High School.
She was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church in Waynesburg and the United Methodist Women.
She enjoyed antiques and was an avid viewer of “American Pickers”. When raising her children, she was known for her French bread and cinnamon rolls. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Shannon (Dan) of Waynesburg and Connie Bird (Kelly) of Pittsburgh; two sons, Terry Tanner (Judi) of Rutan and Brian Tanner (Mindi) of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Neil Shannon, Megan McCollum, Taryn Bird, Kelsey Halackna, Brenna Bird, and Alison Tanner; 5 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lou Tukesbrey of King George, VA.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Emma Grace Conaway; and a brother, Ralph E. Conaway.
Friends will be received 2 pm to 4 pm and 5 pm to 8 p.m. on Friday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the Washington Street United Methodist Church, 152 S. Washington St., Waynesburg with Rev. William Parker officiating followed by interment in Green Mount Cemetery in Waynesburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Washington Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 112, Waynesburg, Pa 15370 or to the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home Activities Fund, 107 Curry Rd., Waynesburg, PA 15370.
