
He was born Friday, January 10, 1919 in Beaumont,TX. A son of the late Edward Lee Evans and Lillian Bowan Stephens Evans.
Mr. Evans was a member of the Kents Chapel at Brave. He was a proud graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College as a recipient of an honorary degree from the School of Hard Knocks..With his wife he was a member of the Good Sams RV Camping Club and loved traveling with his wife. He was a proud member of the Clay-Batelle Senior Citizens Center in Blacksville, WV.He was a member of the Waynesburg Elks Club for several decades, and the Brave Volunteer Fire Department. He was President of the Brave Civic Association resulting in the preservation of the fast pitch softball tournaments. He built and maintained the public ice skating rink for the community of Brave. He supported many charities and was willing to help anyone in need. He was the patriarch of 6 generations and was also a renowned story teller who found joy in others laughter. He enjoyed his summer home with his family on Middle Fork River, hosting many Memorial Day parties for his family and friends. The happiest days of his life were spent doing a mans work.He was a member of the greatest generation. He was the construction superintendent for various large projects with construction companies ranging from turnpikes,to interstates, schools, and bridges. As you travel this land you will have seen his work. With his Son and Wife he owned and operated Big G Family Restaurant in Blacksville,WV. for 21 years. Ed and his wife would like to thank Preston County Home Care, especially Theresa. Also their deepest appreciation to his 2 personal care givers Tanya Wright and Taya Bolyard. Too, a warm thank you to Preston County Hospice for his last days of comfort.
His Wife: Doris Gayle Blue Evans whom he married on March 17, 1957 died May 19, 2015 after 58 years of marriage. Surviving are 2 Sons: Edward O. (Pam) Evans, of Reedsville, WV., and Bill (Diane) Evans, of Denver, CO., 3 Daughters: Lizbeth (Roger) Long, of Harrisburg, PA., Lillian Evans, Denver, CO., and Mary Ellen (Melvin) Furman,of Arlington, VA., Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great granddaughter.

Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH,Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director,197 N. Maiden St Waynesburg, PA 15370 where services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 12, 2016 with his Son and best friend Edward O. Evans officiating. Burial will be in Greene Co.
