Harriett M. Reed

She was born May 2, 1922 in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Floyd H. and Elizabeth Orndoff Miller.

On June 2, 1942 she married Charles L. Reed, who died November 15, 1999.

Mrs. Reed was an owner and manager of Meighen’s Shoe Store in Waynesburg for many years. Prior to that, she was a pharmacy technician at Greene County Memorial Hospital. She resided most of her life in Waynesburg, where she was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church. She was an active member in several spiritual and charitable groups at her church.

Surviving are two sons, William M. Reed (Nancy) of Plano, Texas and Michael D. Reed (Liz Goldstein) of Carlisle; one daughter, Jane R. Cooper (Richard) of Mt. Lebanon; five grandchildren, Lynda Reed Robey, Kyle Cooper, Jeffrey Cooper, Miller Reed, and Peter Reed; 3 great-grandchildren, Vance Robey, Campbell Robey, and Crosby Cooper; a sister-in-law, Jessie Reed Meighen of Waynesburg; 11 nephews and 3 nieces.

Deceased are a brother, Richard “ Dick” Miller, and two sisters, Virginia Carroll Miller Baker and Mary Duke Miller Perrin.

Friends will be received from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday June 6 in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 W. High St., Waynesburg, where a blessing service will be held at 10:30 am on June 7, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Ann Catholic Church, 232 E. High St., Waynesburg with Rev. J. Francis Frazer officiating. Mass will be followed by interment in St. Ann Cemetery.
