

He was born Wednesday, February 06, 1929 in Aleppo,PA. A son of the late Earl Bissett and Violet Cook Bissett. Mr. Bissett lived for 46 years in Richeyville before returning to Greene County in 2001.
Mr. Bissett was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church. He served with the United States Army Paratroopers during W.W.II and later served during the Korean War. He was the first person in Greene and Fayette Counties to volunteer for the Korean War and later was the first reservist from Greene and Fayette Counties to volunteer for the Korean War. While in the service he received the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge with 3 stars, the Bronze Star with valor and several other commendations from the American Ambassador to London and from the Secretary of Commerce,W.A. Harriman. He was a lifetime member of the DAV, the 759th Military Police Association and the 31st Infantry Regimental Association known as the Polar Bears and the Berlin U.S. Military Veterans Association. Mr. Bissett was also a member of the Centerville American Legion Post #705 for 44 years. He was a member of District #50, United Mine Workers. He had served as a committeeman, Vice President, and President of the former Local #12124 of the United Steel Workers Union. For 35 years he worked for Columbia Gas Transmission. His last 8 years he
worked as the Leakage and Corrosion Technician retiring in March of 1987.
His wife Mary Louise Tennant Bissett, whom he married on November 15, 1952 died December 8, 2008.
Surviving are 1 Daughter: Pamela (Michael) Swain, of Tyrone, GA, 1 Son: Robert E. (Kim) Bissett, of Perryopolis, PA
8 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren, 1 Brother: Walter "Shorty" Bissett, of Waynesburg, PA. and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are 1 Son: David Bissett, 1 Grandson: Christopher Bissett and 3 Sisters: Jean Antill, Marilyn Ruth Huskey, and Rosemary Fletcher, 3 Brothers: Paul Bissett, George Bissett, and Bill Bissett
Friends will be received from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 06, 2016 in the Milliken and Throckmorton FH, Inc. Daryl L. Throckmorton Owner/Director,197 N. Maiden St Waynesburg, PA 15370 where services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Friday, October 07, 2016 with Pastor David Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Greene Co. Memorial Park, Morgan Twp.,Greene County, PA. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by the James Farrell American Legion Post #330 and representatives of the United States Army.
