John A. Koval, 96, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania passed away at 1:18 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023 at WeCare in Waynesburg, PA. John was born June 13, 1927 in Marianna, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Thomas R. Koval and Mary Anna Mucha Koval. John was a member of St. Ann Roman Catholic church in Waynesburg, PA. He served as an usher at the church since 1949. John was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid car enthusiast, and loved playing cards with friends and family. John retired from the maintenance department at the Greene County VoTech, and prior to that had worked at Berkowitz/Flushing Shirt manufacturing in maintenance as well. His first Wife: Agnes V. Koval died September 7, 1969. His second Wife: Mabel Marie Scandale Koval died September 27, 2001. Surviving are 1 Daughter: Veronica (Roger) Honsaker of Scottsdale, AZ, 2 Sons: John Koval of Waynesburg, PA and Michael (Melody) Koval of Waynesburg, PA, 11 Grandchildren and several Great-Grandchildren and several Great-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is 1 Daughter- Mary A. Koval Patterson, 1 Son- Donald R. Koval, 1 Granddaughter- Cynthia Koval and 9 Siblings. He was the last of his immediate family. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, Inc. 197 N. Maiden St. Waynesburg, PA 15370 Shane M. Ayers, Director. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 28, 2023 followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church in Waynesburg with Father Frances Frazier as celebrant.
