

She was born September 4, 1930 at Rogersville, a daughter of the late Robert W. and Bessie Mitchell Ely.
She was a 1948 graduate of Center Township High School. In 1951 she graduated from the Presbyterian Hospital School of nursing at Pittsburg.
Mrs. Hougland was a retired registered nurse. She worked for 8 years at Greene County Memorial Hospital and for 36 years for Thomas W. Mering M.D. at Waynesburg.
Charleen was a devout woman of faith who loved God. She loved to read her Bible and pray. She was a counselor to many in their time of need. She loved singing and music. She was a member of a family quartet called The Messengers and for many years sang in the choir at the First Christian Church in Waynesburg. She was a blessing to all and a true woman of faith, which she has passed onto her family, who so dearly loved and was blessed by her. She now has made it to her eternal home in heaven, praising and worshiping her Heavenly Father. We can hear heaven rejoicing. She will be missed deeply by all who loved her. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! She was a member of the Cornerstone Covenant Church. In later years she attended the First Assembly of God at Waynesburg.
Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia (William) Triboletti of Voorhees, NJ, Melissa A. (James) Walker of Waynesburg, and Beth E. (Chad) Moore of Waynesburg; 4 grandchildren, Jason B. (Rebekah) Dulaney, Britnee N. Moore, Taylor M. Moore, and Makayla B. Moore; 4 great-grandchildren, James, Caleb, Elijah, and Callie Dulaney; and a sister, Myra Lee (Tom) Balogh of Osceola, Indiana.
Two sisters died in infancy.
