Peggy finished her life of love on Thursday, July 18, 2024, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ruth Hahner and her sister, Mary Ann McQuillan. Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 47 years, Gerald (“Jerry”) McCarthy, her loving daughter Kelley Hardie and husband Chris of Waynesburg, Pa., her granddaughter Madison Hardie (Peggy’s “Little Peach”), her son Ryan McCarthy of Pittsburgh, and her sister Lynda Donovan and husband Tim of Shaler.
Peggy was born and raised on Spring Hill on the city’s North Side. She graduated from Allegheny High School, Class of 1968. Peggy was a long-time member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, where she served as a lector for many years. Peggy spent her retirement years in Waynesburg with her family enjoying every minute until the very end.
