
He was born on July 19, 1932, in Sodus, NY, a son of William Edward and Frances Orlop.
For over 50 years, Verne was a drywall contractor in the states of New York, Texas, and California. In 1989 he initiated a remodeling business in the Waynesburg area. His employees perfected their trades under his guidance, and considered him a trusted friend. He modeled a good work ethic and was admired for his gentle nature and good sense of humor. His passions were listening to country music, karaoke, and playing cards with his grandchildren and friends.
Verne was a member of the American Legion Post #330, Eagles Aerie #598, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #461, all of Waynesburg.
Surviving are a daughter, Rona Collins of Halifax, Virginia, and a son, Verne Orlop, Jr., of Palm Springs, California: four grandchildren, Lindsey (Bret) Ackerman, of New York City, NY, Sgt. Caleb (Jessica) Briggs of Fort Benning, GA, Zachary and Jordan Collins of Halifax, VA, and friend, Lovella Burns of Waynesburg.
He was the last of his family.
The family will hold a memorial service on Friday, November 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Oakview Methodist Church, 160 Rolling Meadows Road, Waynesburg. Arrangements are being handled by Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High St., Waynesburg. Condolences may be expressed online at www.behmfh.com.
