Albert Wayne Lanning

Albert Wayne Lanning, age 74, of Clyde, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born in Haywood County on April 1, 1951 to the late Melvin and Elizabeth (Lizzy) Lanning.

Albert worked at BASF, Rosearch, and Blue Ridge Paper where he retired. He was an avid hunter and fisherman spending much of his time in Georgia. He had a special love for his family and his grandbabies.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by infant twin girls; brothers, Harold Lanning, John Henry Bumgarner, Glenn Bumgarner; sisters, Ardith Wyatt, Alma Mitchell, Ella Mae Stevenson, Lily Lanning, Sarah Lunsford, and Romaine Wilson.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 55 years, Paula Jean Lanning; sons, David (Norma) Elkins, Steven (Haley) Lanning, and Brian (Annie Jonelle) Lanning; brother, Kenneth (Patsy) Lanning; eight grandchildren, Billy, Michael, Justin, Riley, Mason, Jaxon, Millie, and Ally; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Garrett Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday prior to the service from 12 PM to 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park.
