

Waynesville-Amy Louise Lee Howard, 75, died on September 10, 2016, at The Homestead. Amy was born in Haywood County on June 26, 1941, to the late John Wesley and Amy Greenwood Lee. Amy had an unconditional love for her family. She treated them with honesty never beating around the bush. Amy loved butterflies, gospel music, and to sing. Even though sickness crippled her body with pain for over thirty-two years, she never lost her tenacity, her soul, or her sharp mind and she always had words of encouragement for others. In addition to her parents, Amy was preceded in death by her daughter Regina Louise Howard; her sisters, Virginia L. Cullins and Dorothy L. Dorsett; her brother, John H. Lee; her daughter-in-law, Cathey McDonald Howard Kalimah; and her father-in-law, Lee Bouknight. Amy is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Harold Howard, Sr.; two sons, James H. Howard, Jr. of Clyde, North Carolina and Jameel Kalimah and his wife Stephanie of Rowlett, Texas; her daughter, Sonetra Howard, of Chantilly, Virginia; a brother-in-law, Henry Dalton of Waynesville, North Carolina; her sister, Nancy Wheeler, of Waynesville; her sister-in-law, Patricia Bouknight-Hamilton and her husband, James of Perryville, Maryland; her grandchildren, Regyna Arnold, James Carlose Howard, Courtney Bryson, Syed Kalimah, Seth Kalimah, Eisa Kalimah, Layla Kalimah, James Desmond Colasent, Patricia Colasent; her great-grandchildren, Jayden Arnold, Cailey Arnold, and Trajen Howard; her mother-in-law, Lorine Bouknight and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Amy’s Home Going Celebration will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 1, at Jones Temple AME Zion Church with the Reverend William E. Staley officiating.
