

Waynesville-Anna Jean Crocker Angel, 86, died on Friday, August 25, 2017, at Haywood Lodge. Anna Jean was born in Johnson County, NC, on December 31, 1930, to the late Harry and Bessie Leatherwood Crocker. Anna Jean will be remembered for her amazing crafting ability. She was a retired teacher’s assistant having worked at Maggie Valley and Jonathan Valley Elementary Schools. Anna Jean was a member of Lake Junaluska First Baptist Church, the Gideon’s Auxiliary and was active in the local jail ministry. In addition to her parents, Anna Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Angel; a daughter, Marie Sue Angel; sisters, Betty Jo Crocker and Braxton Buchanan; and brother, Harry Crocker. Anna Jean is survived by her son, David Angel (Sue); and granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lian Angel; and a sister, Mary Sue Crocker. There will be a joint funeral service, with her sister, Mary Sue Crocker, who died on Sunday, August 27, 2017. The service will be at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 28, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Becky Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3:00 PM prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
