Waynesville-Betty Revis Laney, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2018, surrounded by her family. Betty was born in McDowell County on January 2, 1941, to the late Richard and Hattie Tipton Revis. Betty enjoyed camping, traveling, reading and crocheting. Most of all Betty loved spending time with her family and loving on her “grandbabies”. She was a faithful lifelong member of Balsam Missionary Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bill Laney; daughters, Annette Gentry and her husband, Johnny and Cheri Belt and her husband, Alan; sister, Jessie Bartlett; brothers, Howard Revis and his wife, Martha and Grady Revis and his wife, Debbie; grandchildren Adaire and Dusty Murray, Justin and Tammy Belt, Beth Gentry, Jessie Belt and Scott Murray, and Zeb Gentry; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Murray and Nick Hefner, Jayden Murray, Laila Belt, Averi Gentry, Tatumn Murray, Arie Murray, Gene Belt, Raylan and Grayson Murray.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 17, at Balsam Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend Greg Cullen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM prior to the service at the church.
