

Buffy Phillips, 73, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Givens Estates Healthcare. Buffy was born in Haywood County on December 28, 1951, to the late Alfred and Lucille Medford Phillips.
Buffy's unwavering love for her family and friends was a guiding light in her life. She selflessly prioritized the well-being of those she cared for, always putting their needs above her own. As a rock for her children, she embodied patience and support, creating a haven of happiness for her granddaughters.
Her dedication to the community was evident in her role as the Director of the Downtown Waynesville Association. Through her hard work and vision, she played a pivotal role in transforming Downtown Waynesville into the vibrant and welcoming place it is today. Buffy's commitment to her community was matched only by her devotion to her faith. She found immense joy in worship, cherishing the moments spent in fellowship with her family.
Buffy's legacy is one of love, service, and community, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Buffy is survived by her son, Jake Messer (Denise); daughter, Molly Messer Schick (Josh); granddaughters, Marley and Gwyneth Schick; sister, Nanette Edwards (Ronnie); brother, Jeff Phillips (Gwen).
