Waynesville-Charles Martin Finger, 78, died on Monday, April 30, 2018, at The Homestead. Charles was born in Haywood County on September 19, 1939, to the late James Frank Finger and the late Retta Starky Gentry. Charles was a family man who enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed mowing his yard and doing carpentry.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, James Finger.
Charles is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Crawford Finger; daughters, Anita Clark (Wayne), Vicki Hall (Ricky), and Tammy Jones (Dwayne); grandchildren, Bobby Messer (Kelley), Cassie Hall, Arlie Clark, Colton Clark (Kerry), Mandy Hall, Cora Allen (Jacob), Taylor Hilderbrand (Brandon); twelve great-grandchildren, including special great-grandson and fishing buddy, Dylan Messer; brother, Grady Finger; and sisters, Ellen Finger and Ruth Green (Bill).
A memorial service celebrating Charles' life will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 3, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating.
