

CORRINE VANDELLA BROOKS REAMS, age 84, went home to be with her Lord on February 12, 2016. As she entered Heaven, she was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born on July 18, 1931, Mrs. Reams was a native of Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. She was a retired registered nurse, retiring from Shands of Jacksonville in 1990. Moving to Waynesville in 1990, she also worked in home health at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Preceding Mrs. Reams in death are her husband, David Curtis (RED) Reams Sr.; daughter, Mary Gayle Reams Alcorn; parents, Erving Metts Brooks, Sr. and Theresa Mary Dellinger Brooks; brother, Erving Metts Brooks, Jr.; and sister, Effie Ruth Brooks Cave. Mrs. Reams is survived by her daughter, Lynn Marie Reams Bridges (Charlie) of Cohutta/Dalton, Georgia; two sons, David Curtis Reams of Jacksonville, Florida, and James Robert Reams of Waynesville, North Carolina; sisters, Theresa Brooks Hartley of Prescott, Arizona and Beatrice Brooks Cave of Dasher, Georgia; granddaughters, Terra Reams Reese of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kalyn Bridges Lassiter and her husband Seth, Cohutta, Georgia; grandsons, Curtis Edward Reams, Phoenix, Arizona, Justin Bridges, Cohutta, Georgia, and John Barry (JB) Alcorn of Waynesville, North Carolina; as well as many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Mrs. Reams was a faithful Christian, and a member of First Baptist Church, Waynesville, North Carolina. She served as Director of the Sr. Adult Sunday School Department. Mrs. Reams was also a hospital volunteer, serving as Auxiliary President in 2009-2010. She also volunteered on the NC Ombudsman Committee for the Haywood County Rest Homes and with Haywood County Hospice. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 23, in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with the Reverend Dr. Robert Prince and the Reverend Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating. Inurnment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
