Waynesville-Debra Lee Guy Fortner, 61, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehab. Debbi was born in Haywood County on September 23, 1956, to the late Wade and Anne Sorrells Guy.
In addition to her parents, Debbi was preceded in death by her infant son, John Michael Fortner; her brother, Bobby Guy; her sister, Beverly Guy; and her nephew, Dillan Guy.
Debbi is survived by the loves of her life, husband of 44 years, Terry, and son, Joseph Fortner (Meghan); sisters, Kathy Johnson (Otis), Sandy Fortner (Stanley), and Vondi Cunningham (Ronnie); brothers, Leslie Guy (Annette) and Anthony Guy (Ann); sister-in-law, Ailene Eavenson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Debbi was a free-spirited woman who loved her family dearly and made certain they were taken care of. She would give you the shirt off her back. Debbi enjoyed spending summers at the lake, thrift store shopping, doing crafts and was a devout Alabama football fan. Her most favorite pastime was listening to her son, Joey, play music.
A Memorial Service celebrating Debbi’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 16, at Cornerstone Fellowship Church with Pastor Bob Dyer officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.
