Douglas H. Stewman

Candler-Douglas H. Stewman, 76, died on Friday, March 25, 2016, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. Doug was born in Macon County, on April 19, 1939, to the late Luther and Katherine Walker Stewman. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and listening to the “Oldies, But Goodies” on the radio. Doug retired from American Enka Corporation after 32 years of faithful service and served his country honorably for six years in the US Army Airborne. In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin E. Smith Douglas is survived by his wife of 51 years, Shirley Rice Stewman; two sons, Kevin Douglas Stewman (Gina) and Keith Allen Stewman; a sister, Marlene Smith Arnold; his grandchildren, Kyle Douglas Stewman, Courtney Elizabeth Stewman, Chloe Aileen Stewman and Sawyer Morgan Fisher; his step-grandchildren, Alec Logan Khidekel and Chloe Caroline Khidekel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 28, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Greg Warren officiating. Entombment will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
