Estelle Louise Clements Stewart, age 92, was born on November 10, 1930 to the late Layne and Evelyn Elizabeth Wood Clements in Richmond, Virginia. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1948. She was married in 1951, and celebrated 70 years of wedding anniversaries with Eugene Stewart. They enjoyed living in Mississippi, Illinois, Virginia, Michigan, New York, Delaware, and New Jersey. Lifelong friendships were made during these moves. In 1993, their last move was to the Crabtree community of Clyde, North Carolina. Many friendships have been enjoyed during the years in Clyde and Waynesville.
During the years between 1961 and 2019, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina was always the location chosen for family vacations. Estelle happily spent time walking and relaxing on the beach. Browsing the gift shops was fun, but winning at BINGO was the best. She had worked at Lakeland Healthcare Center for 13 years from 1979 to 1992 as a clerical secretary in Haskell, NJ.
Estelle and Eugene were longtime members of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. She loved being in the choir and performing her music secretary duties including keeping the music organized in the music library.
Estelle was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Stewart in 2021, and granddaughter, Angela Jean Agostini-Bartucca in 2018.
Survivors are daughters, Cheryl Bartlett (Roger), and Sharon Agostini (David), sister, Shirley Faye Hancock. Also, grandchildren, Michael Agostini (Meghan), Steven Agostini (Jess), Staff Sgt. Michelle Agostini, A.F., Andrew Bartlett (Rachel) and Shelley B. Stone (Seth). Also, seven (7) great-grandchildren who brought joy and smiles to Estelle.
Her daughters are very grateful for the kindness and compassion of the employees of Haywood Lodge.
