

Bruce Davis, 80, passed away on Dec. 24, 2020, at home in Waynesville after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Haywood County on March 6, 1940, to Lt. Col. James M. Davis, Sr. and Ruth Grant Davis. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandra B. Davis; daughter Amy Davis (Holly); and daughter Kelly Shiell-Davis (Alex). He also is survived by his brother, Col. James M. Davis, Jr. (Fran), sister, Marjorie Davis (Edwin), and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Eugene “Gene” Davis (Nancy).
Bruce grew up in Hazelwood and graduated from Waynesville Township High School in 1958. He attended Indiana University, where he played varsity football and graduated in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. He then joined Dayco, where he worked for many years. After leaving Dayco, he worked for several other companies, including Powell Industries.
He was an avid sportsman, who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed life and the company of his many friends and family.
A service will be held in Waynesville at a later date to be determined.
