

Waynesville, NC – Geraldine Keenum James, age 81, passed away June 10, 2017 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab. She was born in Gastonia, NC on February 2, 1936 to the late Ralph Francis and Addie Parker Keenum. She was a pharmacist for 53 years in Haywood and surrounding counties. Her and her husband owned and operated Hazelwood Pharmacy for many years. She loved & enjoyed her children, grandchildren and her church family at Faith United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by daughter, Carolyn James; and brother, Kenneth Keenum. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband 59 years, Duke James; son, Duke James, Jr.; daughter, Cami James Shelton and husband, Terry; sister, Carolyn Lonnblad; sister-in-law, Clara Keenum; three grandchild, Trey Thompson and wife, Morgan, Megan James and (Jeremy Clark), and Gracie Shelton; great grandchildren, Mason and Clayton Clark. Brother-in-Laws, Jimmie James, Ikey James, Chester James and Sister-in-Laws, Cami James and Wanda James & Cindy James. She also is survived many nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mike Rich officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Burial will be held at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family would like to give thanks to Creekside Villas, Autumn Care Nursing Home, and Hazelwood Family Medicine for all of the special care given to her.
