Mr. Griffin "Griff" Scofield Beaman Griffin age 80 of Lake Junaluska, passed away May 30, 2014 at his home. He was born in Troy, NC to the late John Eston and Tecy Beaman Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a music professor and the director of the opera theatre for twenty-eight years at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. After his retirement, he moved to Lake Junaluska and worked with the choir at Long’s Chapel UMC where he was a member. Mr. Griffin was a part of the group “The Junaluskans” and led a very active social life. Survivors include his cousins Bruce Barrett of Tallahassee FL, Brenda Keefer of Virginia Beach VA, Kathy Coulbeck of Bedford VA; many colleagues, students, friends, acquaintances, and his long time care giver Charlie Allison. A Memorial Service will be held in his memory on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 1PM at Long’s Chapel UMC with Pastor Chuck Wilson officiating. Services in Troy will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to Guilford College.
