Hugh "Boo" Vance Lewis Jr.

Hugh Vance Lewis Jr. passed on October 24, 2026, at the age of 60. Hugh was born in Buncombe County, NC on October 23, 1966, to the late Hugh Sr. and Callie Vinson Lewis. He enjoyed cutting wood, helping people, camping, going to the beach and loving on his dogs, Velma and Cooper and cat CB. Most of all, Hugh loved spending time with his family. Hugh will be remembered for his exuberance in spreading the gospel of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his nephew, Nathaniel Lewis in 2014.

Hugh is survived by the love of his life, Laura Beth Lewis; sister, Sherry L. Piurowski (Brian); brothers, Mitchell Lewis (Kim), Michael Lewis (Jenn), Keith Thomas (Laura) and Clay Thomas (Carla); two daughters, Jacki Best and Kayla Hoglen; two grandsons, Owen and Brayden Hoglen, whom he adored; and numerous nieces and nephews, that he loved very much.

To honor Boo's wishes, no formal services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Haywood County Animal Shelter and/or SARGE's animal rescue.
