James Floyd Bruner

James Floyd Bruner, age 90, of Canton, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025. James was born in McDowell County, NC, on May 30, 1934, to the late James Rueben and Desta Mona Price Bruner.

James enjoyed fishing and pitching horseshoes. He worked for Shuford Mills. James was a Navy Veteran during the Korean War.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Louise Smith Bruner; and sister, Juanita Serafino Parker.

James is survived by his sons, Nathan Bruner (Yelyn), Kenneth Bruner and Mark Bruner (Apple); and three grandchildren, Marcus Bruner, Lauren Bruner and Jasmine Sta Maria.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday on May 21,2025, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Pastor Bryan Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
