James "Jimmy" Lewis Burnette

James "Jimmy" Lewis Burnette, age 66, of Waynesville, NC passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Autumn Care of Waynesville. Jimmy was born in Haywood County on April 16, 1958, to the late Thurston and Ethel Medford Burnette. He enjoyed tinkering on lawn mowers, putting model cars together and riding his scooter. Most of all, Jimmy loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his sister, Debra Burnette Conard; brother-in-law, Buddy Conard; and nephew, Nick Thompson.

Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Delores Shelton (JC) and Jean Thompson (Steve); nieces, Michelle Kirkendall (Jason), Lynn Barker; nephews, Steven Thompson (Suzanne), Charles Trantham (Connie), Tim Trantham (Nellie), Justin Shelton (Dina) and Shaun Conard; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 7, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Micah Piercy officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
