Joseph Harold Arrington

Joseph “Joe” Harold Arrington, age 80 passed away on Sunday June 27th, 2021 at 1:50 pm. Born on October 21, 1940 in Haywood, NC to the late William Guy Arrington and Eva Irene Rhinehart Arrington. He was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School class of 1958. He attended Western Carolina University. He was an apple farmer by inheritance. Besides his parents Joe is preceded in death by brother Bill Arrington.

He married at 22 in 1963 to his wonderful wife Wilma Jo McCall Arrington. They bore two children- Amy Arrington Spotswood and Joseph Austin Arrington. He outlived his first-born and beloved daughter, who passed away from cancer when she was 44 (2010). He has finally been reunited with his little girl after 11 years. Joseph also had four grandchildren, Hannah Spotswood Jensen, Mahlah Arrington, Lydia Spotswood Grab, Sherah Spotswood, and three great grandchildren. Joseph served in the Army National Guard for 4 years in his early 20’s. He was a property owner and wonderful landlord. He worked for Champion for years. He retired from working at US Postal Service as a rural route mail carrier out of Clyde, North Carolina. Prior to mail services, he worked for North Carolina state test farm in Haywood County in the Agriculture research station. He was a hard worker and a dreamer. He wrote several Christian books. He was a faithful member and Elder of Waynesville Christian Fellowship. Most of all he loved Jesus Christ with all his heart, and loved people with the love of Christ. He was a spiritual father to many. He will always be remembered for his big heart of generosity and love for those around him. Everyone that met him loved him.

The memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 1st at 2 pm at Waynesville Christian Fellowship. Visitation will be one day prior on Wednesday June 30th, 2021 from 5pm-7pm at Garrett Funeral Home.
