Maggie Valley- Lacey Christine Blalock, 31 passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Mission Hospital after a 20 year battle with Type 1 Diabetes and Gastroparesis. Lacey was born in Haywood County on October 2, 1990, to Barbara Carol Shook and Jearl Michael Blalock. Lacey loved spending time with her daughter, boyfriend, family and friends, but especially her mom and best friend Emily. Lacey tried for many years to have a baby and was given the gift of her daughter, Caroline in 2020, who was the light of her life. Lacey had a huge heart and compassion for everyone, and always wanted to help people in need. She loved most of all to go riding around on back roads with Caroline while listening to music. Lacey is best known for being silly and making people laugh, but she could also put them in their place.
Lacey was preceded in death by her papaw, Jack Blalock; and her dad, Joseph "Bear" Owens.
In addition to her daughter Caroline Grace Bradley, Lacey is survived by her mother, Barbara Carol Shook, of Maggie Valley; her birth father, Jearl Michael Blalock, of Canton; brother, Stephen Anthony Blalock; her boyfriend Adam James Bradley; her grandfather, Ronald Morris Shook (Mary); her grandmother, Debra Pope Moore; her grandmother, Mary Henderson Blalock; special friends, Jake Moody and Emily Ledford Rogers; and numerous friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, and "special" nephews, Vinny and Victor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 30, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Tim Lolley officiating.
A gofundme account will be set up for Lacey's daughter, Caroline.
