Larry David Arrington

Larry David Arrington, age 74, was born on August 26, 1950 in Waynesville, NC and passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025 in Raleigh, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Cecil Arrington and Betty Jo Massie.

Larry is survived by his son, Christopher David Arrington (Stacy), their daughter, Holly, sister, Brenda Sutton (Mike), brothers, Benny Arrington, (Jane) and Jerry Arrington, (Nelda).

He received his associate degree in Horticultural Science, N.C. State in 1970 and continued with his passion for nature by owning his own greenhouse business before working as a research assistant in the Horticultural Science department at N.C. State. He then worked at various local garden centers before retiring.

Larry was an avid gardener for many years. He enjoyed growing vegetables, herbs, and a variety of beautiful flowers. A certified master gardener, he could tell you the Latin name of any plant, tree, or shrub. He also took great pride in caring for the plants at his neighborhood pool. When not outside gardening he enjoyed playing and spending time with his golden retriever Duchess.

A Graveside Inurnment will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 20, at Saunook Plott Cemetery.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the excellent medical care he has received over the past two years, particularly from Dr. Francisco Castillos and Dr. Brenna Houlihan, all of the caregivers from Synergy HomeCare of North Raleigh, who provided care and companionship, as well as Transitions Lifecare who provided comfort during his final days.

In lieu of flowers any memorial contributions may be made to Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue or Transitions Lifecare (Hospice).
