Larry Edward Steinel

With very heavy hearts, we are sharing the passing of Larry Edward Steinel, 79 of Waynesville. He crossed over to his heavenly home on October 29, 2026.

Also known as "the candyman", Larry brought smiles to everyone. If you knew him, chances are he shared CD's with you sharing his love of God and Gospel music.

A lifelong fan of NHRA, Larry had a vast knowledge of cars and loved the racetrack where he spent countless weekends sharing that passion with his grandson, Austin.

He also had a passion for motorcycles. He could be seen just riding around town, or taking off on a long distance trip which he did many times over the years. He was such a free spirit and had a true love for adventure. A proud Army Veteran, Larry's life and legacy will leave its mark forever for those who knew and loved him.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Louise Burgess Steinel, and his wife of 50 years, Peggy Steinel.

Left to cherish his memory are his only daughter, Christy Steinel Mosteller and his four grandchildren Austin, Lexi, Addysen and Laci Kirkpatrick. Also his four brothers Troy, Arthur, Doug and Jeff Steinel along with their spouses and multiple nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed by all.

There will be a celebration of life that will be announced at a later time.
