

Waynesville-Laura “Jackie” Hyatt, 91, of Waynesville, went to be with the Lord, joining her loved ones on Monday, August 24, 2015. Jackie was born in Cullowhee on December 23, 1923, to the late Rufus and Burlie Long Phillips. She enjoyed family, quilting, and mountain dancing. Jackie was a beauty operator for many years at Jac-o-nette Beauty Shop in Hazelwood. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, James Hyatt; a son, Johnny Hyatt; a grandson, Tyler Woodle; an infant daughter, Peggy Ann Hyatt; two brothers, Dan and Roy Phillips; and two sisters, Peg Ensley and Ruby Henson. Jackie is survived by two sons, Danny (Pat) and Ricky (Debbie) Hyatt; a daughter, Kathi Woodle, (Ron); a brother, Jimmy Phillips (Marilyn); grandchildren, Sherri Melton (Derrell), Jamon Hyatt, Ginny Mosteller (Richard), Russell Hyatt (Danyiele), Brian Farmer, Jerica Woodle, and Sumer Christenbury; great-grandchildren, Colton and Carson Mosteller; and special grandchildren, Bo, Chandler, Tessa, and Mikaela. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, August 28, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Donny Bryson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM prior to the services at the funeral home.
