

Waynesville-Rev. Lloyd Allen, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, at St. Joseph-Mission Health following a period of declining health. He was born on November 12, 1938, in Rabun County, GA, to the late Druary Arthur and Nola Byrd Allen. Lloyd was an ordained minister and had been the pastor of Dan Springs Baptist Church in Bryson City, High Street Baptist Church in Canton, and most recently at Richland Baptist Church in Waynesville. His professional occupation was commercial printing. Lloyd began his printing career at The Waynesville Mountaineer when he was a teenager and his love for printing led him to begin his own business, Old Style Printing, which he operated for 22 years until his retirement. Lloyd was a devoted husband, father, and faithful servant for the Lord. These were the loves of his life.
In addition to his parents, Lloyd was preceded in death by brothers, Lee and Oliver Allen; and his sister, Anna Jean Duvall.
Lloyd is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Hope Bryson Allen; daughters, Dawn and Melba Allen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 29, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with Preacher Dennis Moody and Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kenny Bryson, Howell Freeman, Greg Freeman, Roger Duvall, Dean Parris, and David Greene. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
