THE HEAVENLY GATES OPENED ON OCTOBER 28th TO WELCOME OUR MOTHER LUCY ANN MESSER HOME.
Lucy Ann Messer was born in Haywood County on March 7, 1938, to the late Rufus and Lucy Jane Rhinehart Mintz.
Anyone who met our Mom could not forget her infectious personality, her passion for Life, and her love for Jesus!!
She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved to travel, especially to the beach and Pigeon Forge. On Sundays you would find her at Pentecost Temple Church of God, where she was a member. She loved talking about Jesus to anyone and tried to set an example of what a devoted follower of Christ looked like.
In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Tommy Messer; sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Rickman Mintz, Carol Mintz, Billy Mintz, Larry Mintz, Barbara Mintz Messer and Louise Jones; granddaughters, Kendra Davis and Kyla Jane Phillips; and son-in-law, Rick Hastings.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her daughters, Delores Hastings, Sandy Watts (Mike) and Donna Davis; grandchildren, Scott Rector (Dora), Shawn Watts (Stephanie) and Holly Bradley; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her precious dog, Sugar.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Tuesday, November 3, in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home with the Reverend Dennis Queen, Reverend Johnny Cox and Reverend Nathan Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lucy had a generous heart and compassion for those in need. So in lieu of flowers, Share the Love of God with others and do a good deed for someone.
