I can’t believe it’s been this long since you went home!!

Marcia Mize was an excellent teacher and I was fortunate to be one of her Clyde Elementary students. She was an excellent and demanding piano teacher who inspired me to be my best during my years of private lessons with her. She was a loving and kind person and I am saddened to learn of her death. 

"Miss Mize" made such an indelible impression on me during my elementary school days at Clyde School.  I was one of the original Smoky Mountain Kids back in the '70's that she poured many hours of love and practice into to take us on musical tours across the southern states.  We performed in exhibitions and competitions in the Smokey Mountains, traveled to Florida to perform on the Lawrence Welk Show, and performed on a National Christmas show at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville Tennessee.  Her insistence on excellence left a lasting impression on me as a young musician that lead me to become a music teacher myself.  It saddens me deeply to hear of the loss of this beautiful musician.  Her love of music and  memory will never be lost as the children whose lives she touched with her gift will carry her memory with us a lifetime.

My condolences to Miss Marcia Mize’s family & her fur babies. She was my 5th grade teacher & chorus teacher for Lauderhill Mini Singers @ Lauderhill Paul Turner Elem. school in 1968. May she Rest In Peace and May her memory be a blessing.

Marcia Mize was my teacher back in 1968 at lauderhill elementary school, I think, I’m getting old, I shared with her not long ago a memory I had of those days where we were on the basketball court at recess, after my many attempts at trying to make a basket, she came up to me and said John you are the most uncoordinated child I have ever seen, I was beaming from ear to ear thinking uncoordinated meant something really special, it wasn’t until many years later I realized what the word meant and how accurate a description it was, lol, well she began apologizing profusely when I shared that memory and I assured her it was one of my fondest childhood memories as I remember how special it made me feel at the time. Marcia Mize is the only teacher from my childhood that I remember she was a very wonderful lady who I will never forget, may she Rest In Peace.

I worked with Marcia for 25 years at Clyde Elementary. Since I enjoyed music, too, we worked together on some programs. I loved following up on the music she taught my students. She will be missed especially in our retired breakfast group.

So very sorry.  I worked with Marcia for many years.  Her school programs were always a highlight in our school

What a blessing to not only  have been one of your students but to also have been your neighbor for all these many years. I’ll always remember the sweetness in your voice and the kindness in your heart. Rest In Peace because your journey on earth is done.
