Margaret Ona Lusk Morgan, affectionately known as “Gay”, a life long resident of Cashiers,NC passed away on January 24, 2025 after a brief illness at Mission Hospital.
Born to Claude and Maude Lusk on October 10, 1943, Margaret was a graduate from Glenville High School. Margaret spent her life building a family with the love of her life Steve Morgan. She made a career out of caring for others in some form or fashion, recently retiring from the Jackson County Senior Citizen Center as the dietary coordinator in the Cashiers location.
Margaret truly lived by “to give is better than to receive”. She had the most precious and giving heart, her thoughtfulness and kindness knew no bounds. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was also a “second” of each of those to so many lives she had touched.
Margaret never met a stranger, sparking up conversations and friendships with all she encountered. If she called you “Darlin’”, “precious”, “honey” or “son” she treasured you and her golden treasure was her family. She loved without reason and to know her, was to be blessed. Margaret enjoyed gardening and the outdoors, Sunday dinners with family and crafting was her passion. She had a strong Christian faith and knew one day, “I’ll Fly Away” and she was ready. Her spirit will live on in our hearts, forever.
Margaret is preceded in death by both parents, her husband Steve “Poppy”, a grandson- Edward Ralph Golden, many special family members, and special friend- Annice Pressley.
She is survived by daughters, Sharon Cope (Derek) and Sissy Dillard (Todd); Sons, Ricky Morgan (Becky) and Tater Morgan.
Grandchildren, Sarah Kinsey (Brennan), Stephen Morgan (Hannah), Beverly Ramey (Zack), Mance Gilder, Mattie Morgan, Elijah Morgan and Hazeleigh Morgan.
Great Grandchildren, Christian, Briannah, and Draiven Wellmon. Marcus, Joannah, and Cash Ramey. Also, survived by her companion cat named “Kitty”.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, she wished for donations to be made to “Glenville-Cashiers Rescue Squad” or “Cashiers-Glenville Fire Department” As a family, we wish to thank the wonderful care through the years to both of these organizations they were both dear to her.
