

Maggie Valley-Milburn “Jim” T. McGaha, 82, died on January 31, 2016, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Jim was born in Cosby, TN on April 16, 1933, to the late Alonzo and Nellie Brown McGaha. Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. His greatest pastime was time spent with friends gathered at “THE STORE” and in the woods with his hunting buddies. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a brother, Vester McGaha; two beloved nephews; two beloved sisters-in-law; and three beloved brothers-in-law. Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace Rich McGaha; two daughters, Scarlet West (Larry) and Gwen Evans (Randy); a brother, Butch McGaha (Barbara); five sisters, Ethel Hyson, Erma Bond (Jim), Thelma Keen, Barbara Hannah (Donald), and Dorothy Gardner (Bill); grandchildren, John Mark Evans, Joshua, Caleb, and Micah West; a great-granddaughter, Madi Evans; many loved nieces and nephews; and his much loved brothers and sisters of the Cliff and Wilma Rich family. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 6, at Maggie Valley First Baptist Church with the Reverend Jerry Nelson, the Reverend Erma Bond, the Reverend Dr. Mike Odom, and the Reverend Devere Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Friday, February 5, at Garrett Funerals and Cremations.
