

Waynesville-Mildred A. Moody, 83, died on July 1, 2016, at The Homestead surrounded by her loving family. Mildred was born in Jackson County, North Carolina, on April 25, 1933, to the late Ennice and Bertha Hooper Thompson. Mildred enjoyed her roses and watching Braves baseball. She retired from Family Dollar after 40 years of faithful service where she was affectionately known as “Milly”. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Moody; three sisters, Gladys Wilson, Lou Thompson, Frances Turpin; and two brothers, Gene and Roy Thompson Mildred is survived by three daughters, Judy Wyatt and her husband Henry, Patricia Miller and her husband Ricky, and Tammy Mills; brother, Clarence Thompson and his wife Shirley; and her sister, Eliza Mae Evans; grandchildren, Stephanie Shew and her husband Adam, Kevin Miller and his wife Hannah, Amanda Mills; and her great-grandsons, Jackson and Jase Shew. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 5, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Frank Wyatt and the Reverend Johnny Passmore officiating. Burial will follow in Buchanan Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
