

Philip Carmen Grosso, age 85, of Waynesville, NC, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024. Philip was born in Staten Island, NY, on January 12, 1939, to Enrico and Theresa Grosso.
Philip was a barbershop owner and operator in the 1960s and later owned a semi-tractor-trailer and drove for various companies making deliveries across the country. He worked hard and took pride in everything he put his hands to.
He was a resident of Fort Lauderdale, FL, for many years and later of Ocklawaha, FL, before making his home in Waynesville in 1992. He loved living near the mountains and was an active member of a local hiking club. He was proud of his American heritage and was a strong supporter of the U.S. military. His love for America was evident in his large eagle collection and what the majestic bird represents.
Philip was devoted to his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory are his sons Michael Grosso (Lisa) of Horse Shoe, NC, and Anthony Grosso of Corpus Christi, TX; daughters Julie Ervin (Bill) of Catlin, IL, and Tamara Grosso of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sisters Theresa Ricci of Delray Beach, FL and Barbara Nasca of Staten Island, NY; grandchildren Nicholas Grosso (Dara) of Arden, NC, Nathan Grosso of Chicago, IL, Gabby Grosso of Chicago, IL, Melissa Raborn (Trevor) of Vero Beach, FL; nine great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Philip was predeceased by his brother Enrico (Junior) Grosso of Staten Island, NY, his foster brother Tommy Noeth of Staten Island, NY, and his granddaughter Jennifer Hery of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
