Polly Hogue

Mary Pauline Hogue, age 92, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1934, to the late Riley and Lottie Dills Hogue and lived a life marked by faith, hard work, and unwavering love for her family.

She retired after many years of dedicated service at Enka, which later became BASF. She was known for her strong work ethic and took pride in everything she did.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved sewing, crocheting, reading, and spending time working in her yard. She especially cherished her church family at Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church, where her faith was nurtured and friendships were made.

Above all, she loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She had a special love for babies, and nothing brought a bigger smile to her face than spending time with the youngest members of her family.

In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

She leaves behind three children, Terry Shuler (Mary), Robin Thomas and Jill Mathis; eight grandchildren, Shain Carver, Misti Reece, Stephen Shuler (Jen), David Shuler (Katrina), Sally O'Kelley (Ross), Austin Mathis (Iris), Leigh Anne Shuler and Laura Molden; seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Her legacy of love, kindness, faith, and hard work will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 10, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Matthew Pressley officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:30 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well lived.
