Raymond Lee Setzer

Waynesville-Raymond Lee Setzer, 95, died on Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Raymond was born in Haywood County on April 24, 1923, to the late Jacob Verlin and Ida Mae Knight Setzer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Raymond worked as a letter carrier for the postal service and a newspaper carrier for the Asheville-Citizen Times and The Mountaineer. He served honorably in the US Army during World War II.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Garner Setzer; son, Ronnie Lee Setzer; brothers, Glenn, Willard, Dillard, and Sam Setzer; and sisters, Wilda Rathbone, Susie Short Francis, and Hannah Setzer.

Raymond is survived by his daughters, Ramona Setzer Edwards and Debbie Setzer; grandchildren, Ashley Worley (Cody) and Jason Setzer; great-grandson, Massey Ray Worley; sister-in-law, Louise Gillett; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 3, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Reverends Jerry Nelson and Gary Hearon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM prior to the service at the church.

Raymond was a great man, loved by many, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
