

Richard Dean Mann, age 80, of Waynesville passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. Richard was born in Muncie, IN on October 23, 1943, to the late Charles and Mary Alice Davisson Mann.
Richard loved his country and served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War where he was a Military Police Officer and "tunnel rat". Richard served in many capacities in the Disabled American Veterans organization, including DAV Commander of North Carolina, judge of claims and an at large advocate for the veterans.
Richard was a dedicated family man who loved to travel the world. Most of all he loved to travel to see his family. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society while attending Florida State University. Richard retired as a deputy and police officer after many years of public service. He was Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 25 years, Galina Kosova Mann; daughters, Martha Allen (Keith), Dena LaCourse (Mark), Bonnie Henline, Julie Sims (Chris), Tamara Lamm (DeWayne), Dena Bullock (Benjamin); sons, Christopher Mann (Natalia) and Oleg Tipikin; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 24, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with Father Job Watts officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 - 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be at Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park
