In Loving Memory of Robert (Bob) Nelson
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Nelson on June 2, 2026, at the age of 83.
For service information, please contact the family.
Bob will be remembered for his love, faith, loyalty, and devotion. His greatest treasures were never material possessions, but the people he loved and the animals he cherished.
His faith in God was the foundation of his life. Whether reading his Bible, teaching Sunday School, lay preaching, or offering a prayer for someone in need, Bob lived his faith through kindness, humility, and service to others. He rarely had a harsh word for anyone, except lousy drivers.
He believed every blessing came from the Lord and encouraged those around him to trust God’s plan through life’s challenges.
We find comfort in knowing that the faith he held so dearly has led him Home to the presence of the Lord.
Family was at the center of everything Bob did. He found great joy in gathering around the table, sharing stories, laughter, and time together. He loved a good meal shared with family.
He spent his professional life as a woodshop teacher at Citrus Grove Middle School in Miami, Florida and later as a Real Estate Developer building neighborhood shopping centers and warehousing.
As his wife, I was blessed to share 44 1/2 amazing years with him. We met in church choir. Bob had a wonderful bass voice.
He was my constant companion, confidant, source of strength, and he brought joy to every day. He even put up with my crazy and mostly off-color sense of humor.
Bob loved animals. His dogs and cats were rarely far from his side, and anyone who knew him witnessed the tenderness he showed to every animal he encountered.
Among his favorite pastimes were fishing, boating, and working in the yard. Some of his happiest days were spent on the boat with a cold beer or more…
He also loved gathering with family and friends to share stories over a glass of scotch, a Manhattan, or a Rob Roy on a cruise. He loved traveling. Our last trip together was a cruise to New Zealand and Australia.
What mattered most to him was not where he was, but who was beside him. I am sure his mom, Violet, met him with a glass of scotch and water with one ice cube!
He leaves behind a family who adored him and will forever cherish the memories he gave us. His legacy is one of steadfast faith, unconditional love, kindness, devotion, and hard work. He was ALWAYS working…I believe I am the only woman in the world who prayed for a couch potato!
The emptiness left by his passing is difficult to describe. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Yet, even in our sorrow, we are grateful for the gift of having known and loved him.
Though he is no longer by our side, he will forever remain in our hearts. We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with the Lord.
Until we meet again, we will cherish his memory and thank God for every precious moment we shared with him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Darci; two sons, Andrew (Jeannie) and Marc; daughter Kelli (Scott). He was also blessed with four beautiful grandsons. He was predeceased by his father, John, his mother Violet, stepfather Ralph, brother, Ron, uncles, aunts and cousins.
Services will be casual, as Bob was never fond of wearing a suit.
We will continue to honor his memory and carry forward his legacy.
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!
