Romaine W. Casey

Waynesville-On June 4th 2022 the great Lady we knew as Romaine, Ro, Sister, Aunt, Mother, and Granny finished her work here on Earth. She was the beloved daughter of the late Rev Jesse H and Margaret Conley Williams. The sister of the late Mary Lillian Gibbs, and James Marshall Williams who survives her. Additionally, she leaves behind her 3 sons: Keldon Jr, Fredrick, and Marcellus Casey; 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren, a nephew, as well as numerous cousins. Her youngest son Jesse Donovan preceded her in death.

As a lifelong resident of Waynesville she was the first black employee of Dayco Southern and aided her community as a volunteer with various agencies.

She was a lifetime member of Jones Temple A.M.E. Zion congregation. She served the church in various roles including being a member of the missionary society, as well as representing her church at the general and annual conferences.

Her family and friends miss her and we hope that your lives, your parents lives, and maybe your children's lives were enriched by the love she willingly shared.

We are comforted to know that now she has joined her family and friends that went on before.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 17, at Jones Temple AME Zion Church with the Reverend Myrna Casey officiating and the Reverend William E. Staley will be eulogizing. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-1 pm prior to the service at the church.
