Sherry Lynn Hooper Lively left this world on January 14, 2024, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and daughter who will truly be missed. Sherry was born October 8, 1958, in Sylva, NC, the first child of Nettie Rose Sutton Hooper and Buddy Hayes Hooper. Her sister Connie followed soon after, and then brother Keith. A 1977 graduate of Tuscola High School, her daughter Nichele was born in 1980. Sherry moved to Collins, Georgia where she helped build a home and chicken farm. They welcomed their son Eli to the family in 1986.
She was a dedicated mother, active in church, and always the first person to volunteer to help when someone in her community had a need.
As her children grew, Sherry began her journey to become a paramedic. It was here she found her true passion - helping others during their most difficult times, and forming tight friendships with the EMS communities in Haywood, Buncombe, and Transylvania counties. She loved riding her Harley with her friends. She will be remembered by many for her hilarious stories that would leave you rolling with laughter, and even more for her work ethic and strength.
She is predeceased by her father Buddy. She is survived by her mother, Nettie; her sister, Connie; and brother, Keith. She also leaves behind her two children, Nichele Lorraine Hooper (Ezra O’Connor) of Bucksport, Maine and Eli Hayes Lively (Amber) of Reidsville, Georgia; and five grandchildren, whom she loved dearly - Willa Shine, Nettie Jane, Liam Ivey, Eleanor Sutton, and Henry Jasper.
The family invites you to join them in celebration of her life at Garrett Funerals and Cremations on Sunday, January 21, at 2 pm with the Reverend Martin Ledford officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.
