Sidney Dee Frizzell, 79, of Canton, North Carolina, passed away on August 1, 2026. Born in Haywood County, he was the son of the late T.R. Frizzell, Sr. and Ada Buchanan Frizzell.
Dee was a graduate of Western Carolina University and dedicated ten years of his career to teaching mathematics at Waynesville Junior High School. He had a heart for serving others and was an active member of the Lions Club, founder of the VIP Support Group for the Blind, and a member of Ninevah Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Dee was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his three daughters, Danyiele (Russell) Hyatt, Tara-Natasha Princelen Laxton, and Fadrian (Jeremy) Merrell; son, Shaun Delp; grandchildren, Kaydon, Mikaela, Gracie, Dakota, Ryan, Tyler, Savanna, Lucas, and Brianna; great grandchild, Kehlani; siblings, Linda, Ruth, and Faye; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Ninevah Baptist Church with burial
to follow at Stillwell Cemetery in Jackson County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Haywood County Lions Club.
